Lip balm or small lighter case

Description

When your lips feel dry and chapped you need lip balm NOW! And you may feel the same way about a lighter. This case can hang on the outside of your bag or backpack for quick retrieval.

This is a “stitch leather together” product! These items need to be stitched, so if a child has decorated this case but doesn’t have stitching experience, a grown-up can patiently guide her or him through the process, sitting near the child and passing knowledge from one generation to the next. What could bring more contentment than this?

There are many ways that these vegetable-tanned leather kits can be embellished.

If you are familiar with using acrylic paint to print on gelli  plates, it works great on this leather. This lip balm/small lighter case fits on a 5″ x 7″ gelli plate.

Tempera sticks and permanent markers can be used to make designs. Zentangles are a great way to embellish. Draw a swirly design with a permanent marker, then fill in the spaces formed with zentangle patterns. The case with zig-zag pattern has been embellished with crayon.

The most adorable decoration for a gift is a child’s drawing made with a permanent marker, with their name and the date added – and perhaps the name of the recipient, such as “I love you Nona”! I had one of those and used it for years.

Or, use a permanent ink stamp pad and make your own stamps – I enjoy using carrots to make circles and other shapes.

More traditionally, metal “tap” stamps can be used to emboss a pattern.
