Gotta Make a Mocca! I don’t know how that phrase popped into my mind, but there it is. This book offers directions and patterns for making earth-friendly minimalist shoes. They are based on moccasin design, but can have any style of upper. The three styles of moccashoe uppers presented in this book are: the derby tie shoe, a variety of “cinch-tops” and the one-piece flat.
Minimal tools are needed to make these shoes – you definitively need something to punch holes with, ideally a 00 drive punch or a 00 spring punch – or a nail if need be! If you have a drill press, you can put a small drill bit in it and punch away. Harbor Freight offers a great small drill press. Scissors that can cut leather are needed, and a couple of tapestry or harness needles. That’s about it.
You need some materials, leather and inner tube, or natural rubber ordered from this shop. Once you have made a mock-up to get the pattern correctlysized, you can use all your creative instincts to make some awesome shoes!
