Small tab coin purse

Category:

Description

No sewing is needed to make this small coin purse, just stick (well, twist them a little, pliers help!) the tabs into the slits on the front. Once the tabs are in, they stay there. It isn’t as wide as a credit card, so use it for carrying small things.

After embellishing, a little metal “button” will need to be attached with a phillips screwdriver. Thread and needle are provided for stitching. See video for stitching directions.

There are many ways that these vegetable-tanned leather purses can be embellished.

If you are familiar with using acrylic paint to print on gelli  plates, it works great on this leather. This lip balm/small lighter case fits on a 5″ x 7″ gelli plate.

Tempera sticks and permanent markers can be used to make designs. Zentangles are a great way to embellish. Draw a swirly design with a permanent marker, then fill in the spaces formed with zentangle patterns.

The most adorable decoration for a gift is a child’s drawing made with a permanent marker, with their name and the date added – and perhaps the name of the recipient, such as “I love you Nona”! I had one of those and used it for years.

Or, use a permanent ink stamp pad and make your own stamps – I enjoy using carrots to make circles and other shapes.

More traditionally, metal “tap” stamps can be used to emboss a pattern.
