I usually teach how to make “stitch-down” shoes, in which an edge is formed around the shoe, where the upper is stitched to the sole. However, in the “stitch-in” process, you can create a shoe in which the stitching is not exposed, which creates a more “elegant” look. Thinner leathers can be used for this process, since their edges won’t be turned out. I suggest that you get some experience with making stitch-downs before trying to make stitch-ins.
